Audiology Partner ‘Q&A’ Factfiles.

Over the course of 2018 we will present a number of short interviews with some of our new joint venture partners, to provide a real world view of life as a Specsavers Audiology partner, what kind of support can be expected and how the inherent professionalism, product range, pricing system and overall transparency of the offer is already winning over clients – and why. In the first of the series, we cover a few snippets of our conversation with Specsavers Berwick’s Lalitha Mahendren… the full interview can be accessed here.

Prices: “What do clients think of our prices? They love that, even in the basic / fully subsidised price points, we have such a wide range of hearing aids. The fact that we can provide receiver-in-the-ear and IIC hearing aids in the entry level range has been highly beneficial for many of my clients who need and want these options to be included in the free-to-client range.”

Professional independence: “From a professional standpoint, we have quality time with each client and they are never rushed through the doors; and the optical staff have had a huge amount of training which is great. One of my initial concerns was that the optical team might not have an interest in audiology – but all I have found is that they are extremely passionate about the delivery of audiology in their store and have taken to screening and trouble-shooting with no concerns at all.”

Specsavers Audiology businesses are all hosted within local Specsavers optical practices – in Lalitha’s case it’s Specsavers Berwick.

Product range: “I am very pleased with the range of products available at Specsavers and so are my clients. We have two different manufacturers to choose from within the Advance range itself and so there are lots of affordable options for clients to choose from – including RIC, Standard BTE, IIC, ITC, ITE’s and CROS and BiCros.

In-clinic Support: “I may be the sole audiologist in the clinic but I always feel well supported as the optical staff do everything they can to ensure audiology is a success. Given the large foot traffic within the store, screening opportunities present themselves throughout the day and many audiology appointments are generated this way.”
